When I sit among the ruins of my failure, Jesus be my hope.

When pressure is all around and anxiety closes in from every side, Jesus be my peace.

When it feels like there is no way for me to know what to say, what to do or which way to turn, Jesus be my guide.

When the weight of darkness presses in close and fear threatens to overwhelm me, Jesus be my light.

When I have run and struggled and fought and sweated and strived and I finally reach the end of all my efforts and clever plans and have no more left to give, Jesus be my strength.

When tears are my daily drink and sorrow is my familiar companion, Jesus be my joy.

When my soul is parched, my heart is heavy and despair is only a breath away, Jesus be my life.

When at last I come to the end of my own strength, all my vain imaginings and my futile attempts to earn what can only be freely embraced, Jesus be my salvation.
