I weep for a world where children are abused by those who should love and care for them.

I weep for a world where countless lives are snuffed out before they even begin.

I weep for a world where the guiding metric is the bottom line.

I weep for a world where the top one percent of the global population controls thirty-nine percent of global wealth.

I weep for a world where young girls chasing a dream are tricked into a life of slavery and exploitation.

I weep for a world where the best way to boost sales is sex.

I weep for a world where the answer to violence is seen as more violence.

I weep for a world where we amuse ourselves to death while the hungry go on starving and the most vulnerable are forgotten.

But most of all, I weep for my own selfishness and sin, for I look inside myself and I see where all this came from.

How long, O Lord? How long?
