A prayer for Pentecost

Holy Spirit, sent by the Father,
ignite in us your holy fire;
strengthen your children with the gift of faith,
revive your Church with the breath of love,
and renew the face of the earth,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Sunday morning prayer

Loving God,
Open our hearts,
So that we may feel the breath and play of your Spirit.
Unclench our hands
So that we may reach out to one another,
And touch and be healed.
Open our lips
That we may drink in the delight and wonder of life.
Unclog our ears
To hear your agony in our inhumanity.
Open our eyes,
So that we may see Christ in friend and stranger.
Breathe your Spirit into us,
And touch our lives with the life of Christ, Amen.

A Sunday morning prayer

God our redeemer,
you have delivered us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:
grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,
so by his continual presence in us he may raise us
to eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

A Sunday morning prayer

Merciful Father,
you gave your Son Jesus Christ to be the good shepherd,
and in his love for us to lay down his life and rise again:
keep us always under his protection,
and give us grace to follow in his steps;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Sunday morning prayer

Risen Christ,
you filled your disciples with boldness and fresh hope:
strengthen us to proclaim your risen life
and fill us with your peace,
to the glory of God the Father.

A Sunday morning prayer

Living Jesus,
whose presence on our daily road
we often fail to see;
warm our hearts with fresh confidence in your word,
so that, in making room for the stranger beside us,
we find your hospitality awaiting us,
and the reassurance of your presence
to inspire us to tread the road again
and to share the good news of your resurrection life.
Amen.

A Sunday morning prayer

Risen Lord Jesus,
as the rising sun scatters the darkness,
let fear and the memory of failure be scattered from our souls
that we may live in the glorious freedom of the children of God

We raise up into your resurrection light all who are excluded from fullness of life
by poverty, unemployment or stigma
by injustice, criminality or neglect
by homelessness, landlessness or war

Risen Lord Jesus,
let us be baptised by your resurrection light.
May we trust in you above all else,
hope in you above all else,
seek you in all things,
find you in every place,
meet you among all people,
know you through everything,
and love you
beyond, beyond, beyond all telling.
We pray in your name, living Lord.
Amen.
