Reflections on faith in a messed-up but beautiful world

A little bit of morning mirth

I don’t usually post things like this on the blog, but this popped up in my Twitter feed this morning, and it was too good and too funny not to share. (And sooooo much better than the original.)

Get your coffee, sit back, and enjoy some creative genius.

Unless you’ve only arrived on the internet this year, you must surely have seen this video before. Even so, some videos don’t get old.

I wonder if this little girl’s parents laughed or cried…

Friday funny: O Holy Night

The recording I’m about to share with you has been doing the rounds on the interwebs for a number of years, so there’s a good chance you may have heard it before. If not, you’re in for a rare treat.

The story goes that it was recorded at the end of a day-long pre-Christmas recording session at a church. After a hard day’s work, everyone had packed up and gone home – everyone, that is, except a couple of humble sound technicians.

Maybe it was tiredness or seasonal mirth – who knows? – but for whatever reason, one of them decided to play a backing track and record the other one singing along to it in a mock-epic performance of this beautiful Christmas song. Little did they know that the fruit of their work would go down in internet history.

Enjoy. And make sure you’re not eating or drinking as you listen.

Something different: a morning pick-me-up

It’s my birthday today, so I thought I’d post something funny. I recently saw this video in my news feed on Facebook. My comment was “I want whatever he’s on”.

Seriously, if you’re feeling a little down this morning, I challenge you to watch this and not crack a smile.

As the world waits with bated breath to see where the US Congress will come down on the question of whether to intervene militarily in Syria, I couldn’t resist sharing this article from America’s premier news source, The Onion:

“I believe it is in the best interest of the United States, and the global community as a whole, to move forward with the deployment of all U.S. congressional leaders to Syria immediately,” respondent Carol Abare, 50, said in the nationwide telephone survey, echoing the thoughts of an estimated 9 in 10 Americans who said they “strongly support” any plan of action that involves putting the U.S. House and Senate on the ground in the war-torn Middle Eastern state. “With violence intensifying every day, now is absolutely the right moment—the perfect moment, really—for the United States to send our legislators to the region.”
